When Is “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Released?
The film, which we placed in the top three places in our Marvel Phase 4 ranked article, landed in theaters in November 11, 2022, before being released on Disney+ and digitally, and finally on DVD/Blu-ray/4K.

When Will “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Be On Disney+?
While Disney has accelerated the time it takes for movies to launch on Disney+ after they hit theaters, each movie’s release time is still handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on the movie’s box office performance. The more successful a movie is at the box office, the later it launches on Disney Plus.
We expect it to join Disney Plus in January 2023. That’s based on what we know about some of the superhero movies that have landed on Disney Plus. However, Marvel proved that’s not the case, confirming that it will arrive a month later.
Marvel movies won’t be available on Disney’s streaming platform immediately after their theatrical release. Each film typically has 45 days of worldwide theater exclusivity. If Black Panther 2 happens to release 45 days after November 11, that release date will be Monday, December 26. If Black Panther 2 joins Disney Plus on a Wednesday, as is traditional, it should be on Wednesday, December 28.
If we look at recent Marvel movies for comparison:
Thor: Love and Thunder took 64 days from its theatrical release to its release on Disney+ on Disney+ Day 2022.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness took 47 days from theaters to Disney+
Eternals took 68 Days From Theatrical Release to Disney+
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings took 70 days to release on Disney+. This release is also tied to Disney+ Day 2021.
You will find that the so-called 45-day theater exclusive rights have never been accurately enforced.

Like we mentioned before, the better a movie does at the box office, the later it will be added to streaming platforms like Disney Plus. The film was a huge box office success, taking in $181 million in the U.S., making it the second-highest grossing of the year behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Plus, Wakanda Forever is consistently profitable through the 2022 holiday season, so it’s not in Marvel’s financial interest to have it wrap up in theaters and join Disney Plus by February 2023.
So, Disney recently announced via the Disney Plus movie details page that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be coming to Disney+ on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. That means it took 83 days from theatrical release to Disney Plus.
